Healthy Home is always very accommodating. Especially when I am in a rut and that is about every time I call. The technicians are so friendly and I know I can trust them and they will do the very best job possible. Can only say the most positive things about the whole experience. Thank you, Gina S. I think they did a great job, they were careful with their equipment and setting up the corner guards to protect the doorways and furniture. They took their time and the carpet turned out great. Given our office has a lot of traffic, the traffic areas were really showing badly and they were able to make the carpet look nice again. Lisa V.

"How To Be a Great Host"

Being a great host sounds like it should be easy, but we all know how stressful it can sometimes be. Multi-day stays from guests can often take its toll on you, your guest, and your home. So, how can you open up your home and still ensure that both you and your guests enjoy each other by the end of the visit?

Begin by setting some ground rules.

If you don’t want your guest to bring his five dogs and three cats, tell him so up front. Designate areas where your guests can keep their belongings, such as suitcases and personal items. Tell your guests where coats are hung and shoes are kept, and if you have certain rules—like no shoes in the house or no eating in the living room—make your guests aware of them from the beginning.

When it comes to cleaning up, let your guests know what you expect, but don’t expect them to help every time. Keep in mind that their definition of clean may be radically different than yours. Part of being a good host is accepting people and their oddities.

If you are going to be working or otherwise engaged and your guests will have time on their hands to entertain themselves, provide them a list of local attractions, as well as nearby grocery stores, drug stores, and gas stations.

Don’t sweat the small stuff.

If your guest’s child leaves sticky handprints all over your windows or their newest arrival has an exploding diaper in your living room, take a deep breath and realize that these things can be cleaned up. A deep clean after your guests leave will restore your home back to its beautiful state... probably even better.  If your guests were particularly hard on your carpets give us a call and arrange to have them professionally cleaned. Overall, be sure to enjoy your company. There's almost nothing that can't be fixed or cleaned up after your guests leave. However, poor memories stick around a long time. So, enjoy, and worry about your home later on.

Misocainea (mis-oh-KY-nee-uh) - /n/ Dislike or hatred of anything new.

Greg’s mullet, penchant for parachute pants, and iPod full of Duran Duran songs indicated a rather strong misocainea.

"How To Get Rid of Mold and Mildew"

Undetected mold and mildew can often be responsible for allergies, asthma, and even some more serious illnesses. So you definitely don’t want either of them to take up residence in your home!

The best way to banish mold and mildew from your home is to make sure they don’t show up in the first place. How do you do that?

Begin by fixing any leaks, including plumbing leaks, roof leaks, wall leaks, and window leaks.

In areas that are dark and damp, such as bathrooms, dry tubs and sinks, after every use be sure to remove any water that has collected on the floor or walls.

If your home has condensation on the windows, or various surfaces always seem a bit damp, chances are you live in a home with a high humidity level. Install a quality dehumidifier to dry things out.

If mold and mildew are already an issue in your home, the only way to get rid of them is to kill them off. Simple "cleaning" won’t do.

In order to remove mold and mildew from hard surfaces, buy an over-the-counter preparation designed to specifically kill mold and mildew, or mix one part bleach with three parts of water. Soak the moldy area for 10 to 15 minutes, using a hard brush to break up the mold and mildew. Wipe the area clean, and be sure to dry it completely.

What if mold and mildew have infiltrated your carpet, you're wondering?

If mold or mildew has made its way into the deep layers of your carpet, we advise you allow us to remove it for you. This is simply due to the difficult nature of eliminating mold and mildew from carpet.

In particularly bad cases, the carpet may have be removed. In other cases, we’ll be able to get rid of the mold and mildew and salvage your carpet. However, it’s extremely important that you don’t’ attempt to remove mold and mildew yourself from your carpet yourself, as using the wrong techniques can actually cause even more mold and mildew to propagate.

<"Quick Carpet Care Tricks"

You’ve spent a lot of money on your carpet, and that means that you want it to last for a long, long time. But with everyday traffic, kids, pets, and just life, sometimes that seems easier said than done.

Here are a few quick and simple tips and tricks to keep your carpet in the best shape possible.

Always remove shoes upon entering your home.

Have a place by the door where outdoor shoes are stored, and keep a basket of slippers nearby. Keeping outdoor dirt off your carpet is one of the best ways to preserve its life.

Use mats.

Place a mat at the inside and outside of every carpeted entryway, and train everyone in your household to use it!

Don’t forget mats in the interior of your home between hard surfaces and your carpet, and ask family members and friends to wipe their bare or slippered-feet on them. Even bare feet can pick up dirt and debris from hard surfaces, and deposit them on your carpet.

Vacuum.

Vacuum at least once a week, even if your carpets don’t appear dirty. Why do you need to vacuum if your carpets don’t look dirty, you're wondering?

Well, you want to remove all the dirt and debris that is hiding deep within your carpet fibers. These small but dangerous particles will scratch your carpet fibers, and will make your carpet look old way before its time.

Up the ante if you have kids or pets.

If you have kids or pets, vacuum at least twice a week to keep dirt and debris at bay.

Be sure to have your carpets professionally cleaned.

There's nothing quite like a deep, professional cleaning of your carpets. So, just a gentle reminder to schedule your next cleaning, if you haven't do so in a while.
